I love trying something new, and half way through the first month of 2013, I'm ready for an update to my everyday makeup routine. The FW'12 runways provided some serious inspiration, so I'm drawn to all these beauty trends while the weather is still chilly.
Roberto Cavalli: color block shadow
Who says color blocking is only for below the chin? Color blocking shadow is playful for nighttime or very bold for day. I think finding the right color palette will prove to be a challenge, but once I can get over the 'I look like a clown' hurdle, this fall/winter trend will quickly become a party look favorite.
Derek Lam: sketched on lashes
The lashes are very doll-like, however they are sketched on the exact right amount. Is it me, or do those lashes look like they can be real? Kind of? Mascara on my bottom lashes never really work out for me, but I'd love to perfect this look on my own and get some doll-like eyes going.
Bottega Veneta: contour eye shadow and bold lips
I love the fact that a nighttime look can involve no eyeliner. I'm in love with my eyeliner, but I'd give it up for a night to try this sophisticated and elegant look. The bold lips draws enough attention and makes up what's missing--a true testament to less is more.
Alberta Ferretti: nude and clean
To master the 'barely there' look is actually a lot of work, but there's a reason why we constantly revisit the fresh complexion. It probably has to do with wanting to look and stay young, but Ferretti's strict and clean part brings sophistication and maturity to this heavily recycled beauty trend.
Altuzarra: double eyeliner
With a simple lip, double eyeliner is the perfect amount of dramatic. I, myself, am an avid cat eyeliner girl who rocks the same makeup routine every day and night. I'd love to double my fun, but will beware of looking costume-like.
